F1 Technology Makes Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Safer
F1 Technology Makes Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Safer
by Anthony Fontanelle
At the Canadian Grand Prix, the life-saving property of carbon fiber is demonstrated when BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica sustained only a minor concussion and a sprained ankle after a 250 kilometer per hour, 75-G crash. Less than 24 hours after the accident, the Polish Formula One driver was released from the hospital.
The use of carbon fiber on Formula One cars is mandated to make sure that the cars can adequately protect the drivers in the unfortunate event of a high speed crash. Mercedes-Benz of course has its tie with McLaren in Formula One and it comes as no surprise that the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren should be made safer by suing F1 technology.
The sports car co-developed by DaimlerChrysler and McLaren Automotive is designed as a supercar thus it can reach very high speeds. This of course presents the issue of protecting the occupants of the car in the case of a crash. To make the SLR McLaren Roadster safe, the developer uses carbon fiber extensively in the manufacturing of the SLR McLaren.
In the unfortunate event of a head-on collision, the carbon fiber materials protect the passenger and the driver inside the car. Even on side or rear collision, the high strength material can adequately protect the occupants of the vehicle even on high speed traffic accidents.
"Naturally, it is not possible to completely transfer Formula One technology into a vehicle intended for everyday use, in which comfort criteria also need to be taken into account," said Dr. Rodolfo Schöneburg, head of Passenger Car Safety Development for Mercedes-Benz.
"For example, you cannot expect the driver of a series-production sports car to either wear a helmet or use the HANS Head And Neck Support system that is prescribed for racing cars to protect those parts of the driver's body. However, we do capitalize on the positive properties of the high-tech materials used in Formula One to offer those traveling in the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster a standard of safety that is unmatched, even in the realm of super-sports cars."
The presence of carbon fiber in the SLR is unique due to the fact that few supercar manufacturers use carbon fiber extensively on their production vehicles. One of the reasons for this is the complicated manufacturing process involved.
But with McLaren and Formula One partner Mercedes-Benz having years of experience in developing their race car made out of carbon fiber has given Mercedes-Benz the advantage of expertise in the production of the needed carbon fiber.
The front end of the SLR McLaren is fitted with carbon fiber materials. The material's capacity to absorb huge amount of energy makes it possible for a passenger of an SLR McLaren to Escape with only minor injuries after a high speed crash.
With the use of carbon fiber on the SLR McLaren, the car became not only a superfast and a very good looking machine but a safe one as well. The carbon fiber materials used in the SLR complements all the other parts used in the assembly of the car even down to the Mercedes-Benz wiper blade.
Aside from being safe, it is of course expected that the SLR has the driving dynamics that Mercedes-Benz and McLaren cars are known for. While the SLR McLaren Roadster cannot catch up with the MP4-22 currently used by McLaren this season, the SLR can stand its ground in terms of performance and safety.

Mercedes Benz Air Mass Meter for Better Fuel Economy
Mercedes Benz Air Mass Meter for Better Fuel Economy

When somebody says Mercedes Benz, they would think about luxurious cars. The German-based company has been proven time and time again that they specialize in high quality cars. Whether under the hood or its exterior qualities. It is the quality of the make that is produced, so are the parts and systems. Just like the car's air mass meter.
Mercedes Benz air mass meter is a device used in measuring the mass of air that the engine takes. The information is then transmitted to the engine computer to make necessary adjustments and corrections in maintaining good working conditions. The density of the air that it measures is a way of knowing the levels of temperature and pressure of the engine. It also determines the fuel combustion efficiency of the engine. Efficient fuel combustion is also known when measuring air mass. To archive an effective engine operation, there should be more air intake and less fuel exhausts are emitted. The bulk of air that enters through the engine is measured also to determine whether certain components of the engine system are defective.
Mercedes Benz air mass meter also determines whether the air-fuel concentration mixture is within desirable levels or not to enable engine control unit (ECU) to make necessary adjustments. It enables the ECU to immediately respond to critical levels of air intake and air-fuel concentrations. The air mass determines the efficiency of fuel combustion. Necessary corrections or adjustments are important to lessen emission for less fuel waste. If the engine emits less emission and the meters measures high levels of air mass, that means the engine is in good working condition. The air mass meter is located in the engine compartment usually adjacent to the air filter assembly.
In case the Mercedes Benz air mass meter needs to be checked, one must be careful not to touch or get any contaminates on the electrodes on the inside of the air mass meter, as this will cause the air mass meter to fail. If one experiences a hesitation on acceleration or a poor idle, a faulty air mass meter might be the culprit. The best way to determine if there is a need for a new air flow meter is to check the computer diagnostic codes.
Mercedes Benz Air Mass Meter is just one of Mercedes' tried and tested car part that has improve vehicle performance. Mercedes actually contributed a lot of innovations in the automotive industry. They have pioneered and was first to use supercharging, double-pivot steering system, starter motor and fuel injection. It has become part of Mercedes Benz to be the pioneer in different aspects. In fact, the very foundation of the company lies on the invention of the automobile. Mercedes-Benz originated in the 1880s by two men, Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz. They both invented first true internal combustion powered vehicle. However they were not working together at first despite both being from Southwest Germany. The two probably never even imagined that they would end up working together, this is due to the fact that both men were actually rivals in the corporate world. Daimler had his company Daimler Motorengesellschaft and Benz had his Benz and Cie. After World War I, however, Germany had a troubled economy in 1920's, forcing the two companies to work together. In 1926, the two companies merged and became Daimler-Benz AG. Mercedes was originally a model name of one of Daimler's automobile but due to licensing reason, Daimler was replaced by Mercedes, thus Mercedes-Benz was born. Since then, the company have not stopped in making high quality cars.

Using Mercedes Benz Fuel Filter to Make the Most Out of the Fuel
Using Mercedes Benz Fuel Filter to Make the Most Out of the Fuel

Each car part has its own specific function and belongs to a system that helps the car to run efficiently. Each part is vital to the car, if one does not function well, sooner or later it would cause greater damage to the whole car. For a Mercedes, regularly checking its performance should be part of the owner's agenda. Even if they are already built with top quality.
The Mercedes Benz fuel filter for example, is actually a simple component of a car, yet it plays a vital role. It generally screens out dirt and rust particles from the fuel. Because unfiltered fuel may contain several kinds of contamination, for example paint chips and dirt that has been knocked into the tank while filling or rust caused by moisture in a steel tank, may cause rapid wear and failure of the fuel pump and injectors. And due to the abrasive action of the particles on the high-precision components used in modern injection systems, serious problems may arise. Mercedes fuel filters also improve performance. Since it keeps contaminants in the fuel less, the more efficiently it can be burnt
Mercedes Benz fuel filters trap harmful contaminants that may cause problems with carburetors and intricate fuel injectors. Fuel filters for carbureted engines only clean the fuel before it enters the float bowl. While Injection filters, clean the fuel whenever the fuel pump runs. Fuel then moves continuously up the supply side through the filter to the fuel rail or throttle body. The fuel that doesn't make it into the engine returns to the tank and the whole process starts over again. With a full tank of gas, the filter may clean the volume of fuel in the tank many times before it's all used.
For most fuel-injected cars, their fuel filters consist of a high-pressure canister filled with filtering media. Filters may have clamped, threaded or special fittings to ensure reliable connection to the fuel system. Filters for carbureted engines may be located at the inlet of the carburetor or inline. These types of filters do not need to withstand the same pressures as those for fuel-injected engines. Fuel filters of diesel engines, on the other hand, consist of a bowl-like design which will collect water in the bottom. The water can be drained off when required. It is not recommended for water to be drawn into a diesel engine fuel system, because the system relies on the diesel for lubrication of the moving parts. In case water gets into a moving part which requires constant lubrication, it will quickly cause overheating and unnecessary wear. And water in the fuel system may cause some engine damage.
And since they deal with contaminants, Mercedes Benz Fuel Filter needs to be regularly maintained. One can simply disconnect the filter from the fuel line and replace it with a new one. There are also some specially designed filters that can be cleaned and reused many times offered in the market. Although Mercedes Benz fuel filters are of superior make, if they are not replaced regularly they may become clogged with contaminants and may block fuel flow. That will affect the engine's performance, because the engine will tend to have trouble getting enough fuel to continue running normally.

The Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG
The Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz, maker of top of the line cars and its auto parts including Mercedes-Benz catalytic converter, has just released the details of its new, highly anticipated C 63 AMG.
Due to hit the market in early 2008, the high-performance C-Class promises not only stunning looks, but impressive performance specs as well. Beginning with a 6.3-litre V8 engine that delivers a peak output of 336 kW/457 hp and maximum torque of 600 newton metres, this machine is powerful enough to take you from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The V8 flagship model likewise boasts of exemplary handling thanks to a wider track, an all-new front axle, speed-sensitive AMG sports steering and suspension plus a new 3-stage Electronic Stability Program.
The C 63 AMG sis the fifth generation of the cooperative venture between Daimler-Benz and AMG, and features an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h and achieves its 336 kW/457 hp output at 6800 rpm from a displacement of 6208 cubic centimetres, the speed of which clearly calls to its kinship to the 470 odd horsepower delivered by its sister AMG C-Class racing touring car in the German Touring Car Championships (DTM).
The 6.3-litre V8 engine produces torque said to be 30 percent more than comparable engines in this performance class, reaching a maximum of 600 newton metres at 5000 rpm. The torque curve is guaranteed to elicit ooohhh and ahhs: from 2000 to 6250 rpm the driver always has more than 500 newton metres on call offering powerful acceleration in any engine speed range. First introduced in 2005, the AMG V8 engine boasts variable camshaft adjustment, four-valve technology with bucket-type tappets, a rigid aluminum crankcase of closed-deck design, low-friction TWAS coating on the cylinder contact surfaces and electronically controlled fuel delivery.
The exterior design is exciting with its new bonnet featuring prominent power domes along with the trademark AMG radiator grille with a central star and two louvers with chrome inserts. The honeycomb pattern of the grille is also reflected in the large air dams of the new front apron which forms part of the AMG-specific body-styling. These are of course, only to name a few.
Meanwhile, the car's 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and the AMG sports exhaust system with two chrome twin tailpipes provide further visual highlights. This works well with the spoiler lip on the boot lid which reduces lift and ensures greater handling stability during high speeds.
Inside, it is equally exciting: there are special AMG sports seats with integral head restraints added for the first time. The standard upholstery in ARTICO man-made leather/AMG fabric is available in a choice of black or reef grey. Or if you want something more unique, as an option, the interior can be further enhanced with particularly high-grade leather in black, reef grey or black/sahara beige.
The three-spoke design AMG performance steering wheel is also new with its rim diameter of 365 millimetres and a flattened lower section.
Now the question on everybody's mind is - can this Mercedes-Benz M3 challenger beat its rival in the market? We'll just have to wait and see.

Mercedes Benz Valve Cover Gaskets: The Best Protection From Engine Leaks
Mercedes Benz Valve Cover Gaskets: The Best Protection From Engine Leaks
by Miranda Restelle
Mercedes Benz cars are known for their technological innovations and their emphasis on safety. They were the first to introduce the safety cage, anti-lock brakes, airbags and traction control, to name a few. These safety features are standard in every Mercedes car. Daimler Benz AG, the company that used to produce Mercedes Benz Cars was formed from the merging of two companies namely Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) and Benz & Cie in June 28, 1926. These two companies started to work together due to the arising need that rooted from a troubled German economy during the World War 1. They finally merged in 1926 and became Daimler-Benz AG. Today, Mercedes-Benz cars are already owned by DaimlerChrysler AG. Proper maintenance is still the best way to go when there is a need to keep a Mercedes car at its best. One way of maintaining is keeping its engine away form leaks. An one common source of leaks is the a damaged Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket. The Mercedes valve train is composed of the rocker arms, valve springs, push rods, lifters and cam. It is covered by the valve cover wherein oil is pumped up through the pushrods and dispersed underneath in order to lubricate the various parts of the engine Aside form this, the valve also protects the various valve train components, particularly the valves and the rocker arms, from various damages. Because of these important functions, the valve cover must be oil-tight because it is often the source of oil leaks. This is where the valve cover gasket comes in. The Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket further ensures a better tightening of the seal between the valve cover and the cylinder head. Valve covers are meant to be removable for easy access to the valves when they need adjustments. Each time that the valve cover is removed, however, there is a need to replace the valve cover gasket with a new one
A Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket is located beneath the valve cover. It is basically a metal lid that sits on top of the cylinder head. Mercedes valve cover gaskets act like sealants between the cover and the engine with the purpose of preventing the oil form leaking out. While doing this function, they also keep dust and debris out of the engine at the same time. It is when they become saturated that the oil from the engine begins to leak. Most of these contaminants and build-ups are dirt, carbon, dust and even old gasket residue. The rule of thumb is, the more often you have an oil change, the lesser the amount of build-up that can occur which can cause saturation. Moreover, it is common for a valve cover gasket of an older engine to develop a leak and does not pose a serious problem. Its replacement is a minor job, but it should be immediately attended to. The number of valve cover gaskets depends on the type of engine your car has. Some engines have as much as four valve cover gaskets. The most durable valve cover gaskets are believed to be those made of silicone. Valve cover gaskets made of rubber and cork are also available.
Improper installation of the Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket is usually the cause of oil leaks. Another cause is the warping of the valve cover or the damages it incurs during removal and replacement. For some cars, a smell of burning oil in the cabin is usually an indicator of a leaking valve cover gasket or cam chain tensioner gasket. There may also be an accumulation of oil on the belly pan and various engine components. Symptoms also include the presence of oil on top of the cylinder head and near the spark-plug connections.

Make Your Wheels Last Longer With Mercedes Benz Wheel Bearings
Make Your Wheels Last Longer With Mercedes Benz Wheel Bearings
by Miranda Restelle
A Mercedes Benz car is practically everyone's dream car. And what better way to keep it at its to condition than giving it the proper maintenance it deserves. Take for example the Mercedes Benz wheel bearing. The Mercedes Benz wheel bearings' functions are two of the most important in a car's suspension system. They function in order to allow the wheels to rotate with minimal friction and the to support the weight of the vehicle.
Both the Mercedes Benz front wheel bearings and rear wheel bearings can hold up to 850 lbs. Of course, this totally depends on the front-to-rear weight distribution of a car. In a typical 3,400-lb. sedan, each pair of front-wheel bearings, as well as the rear-wheel or axle bearings, support 850 pounds depending on the front-to-rear weight distribution of the car. In a large 6,000-lb. SUV, each bearing carries about 1,500 pounds. A typical wheel bearing is designed to last about 150,000 miles or more. Without wheel bearings, a car's wheel will instantly wear out of friction. This may also happen when the wheel bearings are not properly installed. Mercedes Benz wheel bearings can undergo different kinds of problems. Generally speaking, water is bad for wheel bearings because it can cause rust and can contaminate the grease. Dirt and water can enter the bearing cavity when the grease seal of the wheel bearing is worn out or damaged. The grease seal should be leak-free since it performs an important function of keeping the lubricant inside the bearings and the contaminants out. The seals are also the most vulnerable part of the Mercedes Benz wheel bearing assembly, and once a seal starts to leak, the bearings are in trouble. With sealed bearing assemblies, the seals cannot be replaced separately. If a seal has failed, the entire hub assembly must be replaced. But on older vehicles that do have serviceable wheel bearings, a bad seal can be replaced with a new one to extend the life of the bearings.
Play is another problem with Mercedes Benz wheel bearings. Too much play can allow steering to wander. If there's play in a sealed bearing, replacement is necessary. Looseness, on the other hand, usually means the bearings are worn, the hub nut may have backed off, or the bearings were not adjusted properly in the first place. Wheel bearing noise is also a sign of a failing wheel bearing. A failing wheel bearing will produce a humming noise that increases with the speed of the car and will eventually get louder as the car's speed increases. One will know if the front wheel bearing has failed by listening to how loud the bearing noise is as one turns the car from right to left. If the car is turned to the to the right and the noise gets louder, the left front wheel bearing is bad. The opposite is also true, if the car is turned to the left and the noise is more pronounced, the right front wheel bearing is bad.
When Mercedes Benz wheel bearings are serviced, the old grease should first be removed and the bearings cleaned and inspected before being repacked with fresh grease. This will remove any contaminants from the hub that may cause problems later on, and eliminate any risk of incompatibility between the old and new grease.

Safety is the key component when driving down the road. For that matter, a lot of safety features have been installed in cars to ensure that the driver and the passengers remain at ease while driving along the open streets. The braking technology has been optimized to produce more force when braking but still within the safe limit. Anti-lock braking system has been developed to avoid the wheels from locking when stepping on the brake. It also allows the driver to maintain steering control under heavy braking, and sometimes to shorten braking distance. Brake pads and brake calipers are continuously improved for it to perfect the desired action cars need.
For the sense of safety, which is one of the top priority of automakers, they have also installed a lighting system for the cars they make. They may appear as a minor part in cars but they indeed serve a good purpose, all for the name of safety and convenience. Lighting system of automakers include lights and signal devices installed around the vehicles. The obvious function is of course to give out illumination. Its illumination gives way for drivers to operate after dark, increase conspicuity of vehicles, display the vehicles presence and position, and to signify and warn other motorists of the actions they intend to take like direction and speed of travel.
Among the automakers who followed the lighting system standard for cars is Mercedes Benz. Throughout the years, as Mercedes improves and produces new makes for their line, they have also enhanced the lighting system they put into cars. It will be surprising to note how much Mercedes Lights are present in a single car.
A Mercedes Benz Light comes in the form of headlights, taillights, corner lights, warning lights, forward-facing auxiliary lights, fog lights, turn signal lights, daytime running lights, side marker lights, trailer lights, service engine lights, oil lights, and transmission lights. These are all present and installed outside and inside cars. It is important to identify each role they play for people not to doubt as one can never have too many lights in his car. Headlights guard the entry path and taillights keep the exit safe. Warning lights automatically turn on when cars need service. The forward-facing auxiliary lights are created to add to the vehicles' high beams. Corner lights tell other drivers of what move you're making. Turn signal lights on the other hand warn other motorists on which way a driver is taking. Side marker lights' purpose is to work as reflectors on the side of a fender. Daytime running lights are those that remain lit whenever the engine is on. Fog lights give an extra-low level light for foggy driving conditions both on the front and rear of the car. Trailer lights are installed on trailers that are controlled by tow vehicles.
The Mercedes Benz Light nowadays are now influenced by society's design. It now comes in especially unique and aggressive design, fit for the 21st century. But still it remains that these Mercedes Lights guarantee security and safety to drivers and passengers. They've also added opera lights to their vehicle makes to project a classic look. Colors are the trend today as well and so Mercedes Benz produced neon lights to complement the taste of hip and stylish drivers. A Mercedes Benz Light is now both providing the function and design that Benz owners are asking for, to prove that they remain to be one of the best cars in the market.

No need to worry, the car will surely start with the Mercedes Benz Relay
No need to worry, the car will surely start with the Mercedes Benz Relay
by Kim Baker
The first thing that a driver worries about after getting into the car is if the car will start once he turns the key into the ignition. This is crucial because this moment will determine the total function of the car engine---for how can you determine its performance if it would not run in the first place? But if the car is hooked up with the Mercedes Benz Relay, then it would be next to impossible for the car not to start. Because the name Mercedes Benz speaks of quality and efficiency, it is trusted to carry out its tasks with perfection.
The Mercedes Benz Relay is an electromagnetic switch. When power or ground is applied to a coil, the relay clicks on or off. The result is that a power wire to a function is either closed (connected) or opened (disconnected). When the line is connected, the function is turned on and works. When the line is disconnected, the function is turned off and will not work. A relay can be used on alarm systems to disable the starter, to flash the parking lights, and more. It is responsible for starting the car, along with the other main components of the engine. Meanwhile, the relay serves a lot of other functions too because of its electric nature. One of them is Car Conversion.
A lot of motorists have preferred to use Electric Cars instead of the gasoline-powered ones because it is less costly, and less of a pollutant. A typical conversion uses a DC controller and a DC motor. The person doing the conversion decides what voltage the system will run at typically anything between 96 volts and 192 volts. The voltage decision controls how many batteries the car will need, and what sort of motor and controller the car will use. Usually, the person doing the conversion has a "donor vehicle" that will act as the platform for the conversion. Almost always, the donor vehicle is a normal gasoline-powered car that gets converted to electric.
Once the decisions about the motor, controller and batteries are made, the conversion can start. One will have to remove the engine, gas tank, exhaust system, clutch and perhaps the radiator from the donor vehicle. Then, attach an adapter plate to the transmission and mount the motor. The motor normally requires custom mounting brackets. Usually, the electric motor needs a reduction gear for maximum efficiency. The easiest way to create the gear reduction is to pin the existing manual transmission in first or second gear. It would save weight to create a custom reduction gear, but normally it is too expensive. Next, the person must mount the controller. Find space for, and build brackets to safely hold all the batteries. Install the batteries and wire them to the controller with gauge welding cable.
Install a DC-to-DC converter to power the accessory battery. Install a large Mercedes Benz Relay (also known as a contactor) that can connect and disconnect the car's battery pack to and from the controller. This relay is how you turn the car "on" when you want to drive it. You need a relay that can carry hundreds of amps and that can break 96 to 300 volts DC without holding an arc. Rewire the ignition switch so that it can turn on all the new equipment, including the Mercedes Benz Relay. Mercedes Benz has proven its expertise and utility in the continuous evolution of the automobile, and they will not be stopping any time soon.

Since the engine of the Mercedes Benz plays the vital role of running the vehicle, it should be free from any distractions during its operations. An engine compartment covered by the Mercedes Benz Hood is installed in order to protect the engine assembly against any harmful elements that may dampen its performance like snow, rain, dirt, grime and the likes. It also serves aesthetic purposes, as well. Much to the contribution to the styling of its over-all appearance.
The Mercedes Benz hood is a body panel protects the power trains from exposure against the harmful effects of elements aforementioned. Durable components make up this integral part to withstand the extreme conditions the vehicle encounters. It has an opening body panel in front of the cowl to cover an engine (as for front-engine vehicles). In the United Kingdom, they are often referred to as "bonnet." They are also considered as another type of door outfitted in the vehicle since they consist of an outer panel and an inner panel. This inner panel gives toughness as the outer panel just serves as the metal cover or serves as the hood "skin."
There are other types of Mercedes Benz Hoods that have sound-absorbing device to prevent or minimize unwanted disturbing noise from the vehicle's power train. Other kinds of hood have openings that allow easier entry of air to ventilate the engine for maximum efficiency. Car hood made from carbon fibers are also available. This type is a great choice if the user also wants to improve the look of their vehicle.
As the underside is usually covered with a sound-absorbing material. There are kinds of Mercedes Benz Hoods that are manufactured with built-in scoops made with steel, fiber glass or carbon fiber. These are accessories placed on the hood that are used to direct outside air directly to the air filter, which provides improved performance and efficiency.
Like rims, wheels, and other accessories, the Mercedes Hood elicits an improved styling on the vehicle. With jazzed-up paint, the hood transcends into a whole new look. Adding aesthetics to the Mercedes Benz is the nose bra (or car bra) that offers protection form road debris and grime. Meanwhile, hood spoilers improves the aerodynamics of the vehicle to minimize air drag. This is true for customization or in the performance industry. There is a wide variety of hoods to choose from in the market as of present. It ensures that every hood is fit to every Mercedes Benz vehicle as they come with OEM specifications. Over the Internet, fast and easy clicks go for convenient online transactions with big discounts and a host of deals to offer.
As it is situated on the front area of the vehicle, the Mercedes Hood is prone to wear and tear with bugs sprawling over and other forms of collision. It is also prone to corrosion and rust. With periodic check-up, the Mercedes Benz Hood is maintained in good condition.

Formula One Stars On Mercedes-Benz Ad
Formula One Stars On Mercedes-Benz Ad
by Anthony Fontanelle
German automaker Mercedes-Benz has strong ties with Formula One and it is banking on the popularity of the sport's drivers for its new TV ad. The said television commercial will feature Vodafone McLaren Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso as well as former McLaren driver and world champion Mika Hakkinen.
In the Mercedes-Benz TV ad, Hamilton and Alonso will reveal that they have racing in their blood. The concept of the commercial is to show that the two Formula One drivers consider each other as friendly rivals. In the commercial, the two drivers not only races through the circuit but also rivals each other in other activities and in other places such as at a hotel reception desk, at a gym, and even in a sauna.
The TV ad will run for sixty minutes and it will be aired starting next Saturday which will coincide with the qualifying session for the upcoming European Grand Prix which will be held at the Nürburgring in Nurburg, Germany. The said commercial will be aired on the most popular public and private TV channels in Germany, Spain, where Alonso hails from, and the United Kingdom, where Hamilton resides.
The commercial will demonstrate that auto racing is not only based on the fighting spirit of the drivers but also incorporates playfulness and fun. These are the messages that Mercedes-Benz is hoping to get across to viewers of the commercial.
The choice of Hamilton and Alonso for the commercial is an obvious one since both are sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and would even have been tapped to market Mercedes-Benz products such as Mercedes-Benz car covers although that would seem out of place.
"Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have a passion for auto racing," said Norbert Haug, the head of Mercedes-Benz Motor Sports. "Both of them are ambitious, focused, and competitive. They cultivate a healthy sense of rivalry and appreciate and respect each other very much."
These attributes, according to Haug, is evident in the shooting and the outcome of the commercial. "Of course this is obvious on the race track, and it was evident while we were shooting the new TV commercial, too. In spite of the time pressure and their lack of familiarity with the TV medium, they really enjoyed the shoot."
Former McLaren driver and two-time champion Mika Hakkinen also joined the two current stars of the sport. "Mika Häkkinen, who has won the Formula 1 championship twice, has been in commercials before, and he's as cool and appealing as ever this time around," said Haug of the appearance of the Finn in the commercial.
A sneak preview of the commercial will be aired at the Mercedes-Benz Internet TV at www.mercedes-benz.tv on the 20th of this month. The said commercial will then be aired at the site on its full length after that.
"The idea for this commercial originated in our brand philosophy," said Dr. Olaf Göttgens, the Vice President for Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars. "After all, motor sports are deeply rooted in the history of Mercedes-Benz, and today they're still an essential element of our brand's fascination. Motor sports embody the passion that characterizes Mercedes-Benz." The German automaker has been the engine supplier of the McLaren Formula One team since 1995 and this partnership has led to success in the sport.
The commercial is said to have a twist at the endings since Hamilton and Alonso will be outdoing each other most of the time. That is where Hakkinen comes in. At the end of the commercial, Hakkinen will outdo both Alonso and Hamilton in their contest in a sauna.

Mercedes-Benz to Double Sales of Diesel Cars, SUVs in the US
Mercedes-Benz to Double Sales of Diesel Cars, SUVs in the US
by Anthony Fontanelle
The luxury car unit of Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz the producer of high quality Mercedes S350 radiator support has announced recently that it may double the sales of its diesel vehicles in the US after successfully meeting the emission regulations in all states.
The Bluetec diesel motors equipped on Mercedes cars and sport utility vehicles were able to comply with the country’s strictest emission requirements especially in the state of California and because of this the luxury car maker will finally start marketing its vehicles in the US.
According to Ernst Lieb, the unit’s chief executive officer for the US, "When we're able to have diesel in all states we'll be in a position to possibly double the number of diesels we sell." In an interview in New York, Mr. Lieb said that the models to be offered in the US will include cleaner models such as the re-engined versions of the M, GL and the R-Class SUVs.
The coming of Mercedes vehicles in the US is just perfect since according to the study conducted by J.D. Power & Associates, diesel’s share in the US car and light-truck market is likely to quadruple to 11.8 percent by 2015. This is attributed to the fact that automakers are already responding to calls and demands for emission controlled vehicles. Likewise, the fuel that powers half of the new cars distributed in Europe has been blocked from entering US since consumers associate it with heavy trucks and aside from that most of the gas stations in the US don’t offer it.
In California and in four other US states sales of new diesel autos are restricted since diesel vehicles are believed to emit soot and gases that are linked to heart and lung disease. The luxury unit of Daimler AG has started selling a diesel version of its E-320 sedan in all 50 states since its Bluetec engine was able to meet up with the emission standards required in the US.
Mercedes-Benz will also offer its new GLK small SUV on the market in early part of 2009 which Mr. Lieb said will provide that extra boost to sales. The GLK will be made to compete with BMW’s X3.
Daimler for this year is predicting record sales in the US which happens to be its second-largest market. Mr. Lieb further stressed that at present the company has no plans of offering the B-Class compact van in the US. The efforts to sell the model were dropped in 2005 attributed to the plunging of the dollar against the euro thereby reducing the vehicle’s profitability.
For this year the dollar has declined by 4.8 percent as compared to the European currency bringing the record to as low as $1.4967 on November 23.

Mercedes Benz Parts Satisfy Expectations : Mercedes benz new car review 2008

Innovation has long been an adage at Mercedes-Benz. The company has always been involved with technological progress in manufacturing safer, cleaner and more efficient vehicles. Mercedes-Benz has always been recognized as the car of people with wealth and recognition. Mercedes Benz was the driving force behind innovations such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS), the airbag, active suspension and ceramic brakes. These improved technologies have saved countless lives.Ever since the company was established, all Mercedes Benz cars manufactured and carrying the Mercedes symbol was known for their high quality. In December 1900, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) supplied a client named Emil Jellinek with the world's first Mercedes-brand motor vehicle which followed the name of Jellinek's daughter, Mercédes. From the early stages, Mercedes Benz vehicles have set standards in quality, in technology and in luxury. Nowadays, Mercedes is one of the world's most successful premium-quality automotive brands, with some 6.4 million customers having about 9.5 million Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. In 1900, the annual production of DMG was just 96 vehicles, made almost completely by hand through a workforce of 344 people. In 1913, assembly lines paved the way for volume production at lower costs and, from the time when Jellinek's first ordered in 1900, Mercedes-Benz has built a total of 19 million passenger vehicles. For the first time in 1999, the company sold over a million passenger cars in one year. The majority of Mercedes Benz parts are made by the original equipment manufacturers parts (OEM parts). Packed performance, distinct style and design are reflected not just in every model but in all Mercedes Benz parts as well. All Mercedes Benz car parts can be used not only for Mercedes models but also for various car makes. But still, the right specifications and features of the car must be the highest concern in picking the right product. There are many options of Mercedes Benz parts and accessories in the market, from deluxe to sporty car makes and extraordinary car parts. Innovations organized by Mercedes are shown not only in their own models but in almost all car make in the big business. At Mercedes-Benz, customer needs are always handled efficiently. The company provides parts from headlamp to rotors and many more, whatever the customer calls for. Aside from the style, look and design, the quality of Mercedes-Benz parts are always not taken for granted.
